Our first Field Trip Friday of 2021 is to Georgetown's own independent bookstore, Waterfront Books!

Goergetown's historic Front Street is a perfect afternoon stop for shopping, dining, and strolling along the Sampit River.
Besides the perfect backdrop for great pictures, it is home a wide assortment of local-owned small businesses. These are the types of places where you get to know the shop owners by name and they keep their eye out for things that may interest you the next time you stop by.
Waterfront Books is this dreamy kind of small town shop!

This local bookstore has evolved -- and moved -- over the years. Originally, it was Mark Twain Bookstore, before being purchased from Allison Nation by Anne Carlson and renamed Harborwalk Books.

After a fire devoured much of the 700 block of Georgetown's historic Front Street,

the bookstore was completely destroyed.
Sandra Quinn and Anne Carlson opened Waterfront Books in March 2014 in the Fogel Mall and haven't looked back since..
Though the space is small, the shop has a great selection. There is a unique mix of new releases, used books, bookish gifts, and art by local artists.

Looking for a book they don't have in stock? Simply call or stop by and make your request. They will order the book for you and call you when it has arrived!
(You may have seen our co-founder Josie walking down Front Street and back to her office with her nose in a book she just picked up at the store!)
Waterfront also offers gift certificates. Trust us -- the book lover in your life will love nothing more than wandering through the bookstore with free money!

Waterfront Books is located at 815 Front Street, Georgetown, in the Fogel Mall. Visit their website at www.waterfrontbookssc.com. Or, even better, stop by and tell Sandra we sent you!
